Sawyer Emjae's Birth Story

I was so incredibly honored that the Robb family chose ME to document the beginning of a new life - their daughter Sawyer's.

When Steph called me and said they were going to be induced on their due date I was very relieved (if you know me, I am a planner and tend to stress out with last minute things). So, at this point I knew I was going to be heading to the hospital on Friday August 17th to document the birth.

Well, 3 days before her due date, on Tuesday the 14th, Steph called and said she was being sent to the hospital because her contractions seemed to be getting stronger. Ok, now I am stressing. I got another call, a few hours later and was told Steph was being released to progress her labor at home. Ok, breathe again!

So Friday rolls around. It's 2pm and Steph sends me a text message letting me know she is about 3cm dilated and just got her epidural. I am thinking I wouldn't need to head up to the hospital until about 8pm or so that evening so I started running some errands. Less than an hour later (around 3pm) I get another call letting me know she is now at an 8. AN EIGHT! How on earth does that even happen? So now I am in panic mode as I need to rearrange my whole evening's plans and work around childcare, etc.

I get to the hospital within 15 minutes (not really even sure how I got there that quickly) and Steph was very quickly fully dilated. We just had to wait for the little lady to descend a little bit more before she could begin pushing.

The whole delivery process was so calm and quiet - Steph had a smile on her face the whole time and claimed to have been in no pain. It was soooo peaceful and amazing.

As you can see from the video story below, Sawyer is surrounded by so many people that love and cherish her. She has an amazing mommy, daddy and big brother Noah in addition to her grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends!
